Oregon Pacific Bank Appoints Jon Thompson as New Board Chairman
FLORENCE, OR – Oregon Pacific Bank is pleased to announce the appointment of local business owner and current board member, Jon Thompson, to the position of Board Chairman.
“I am as excited about Oregon Pacific Bank as I have ever been,” says Thompson, who has owned Coast Broadcasting Company in Florence since 1988. He has been active in the Florence community for over thirty years, serving on the boards of numerous charitable organizations and is currently an active board member of the Friends of Florence. Thompson is a past president of Florence Area Chamber of Commerce and previously recognized as Florence First Citizen. He was recently named 2016 Broadcaster of the Year by the Oregon Association of Broadcasters. He has served on Oregon Pacific Bank’s Board of Directors since 2004 and was appointed by a unanimous vote to the position of Chairman on April 17th, 2019 after the retirement of former Chair Robert King.
“I am proud to see how far we’ve come and feel that Oregon Pacific Bank’s future is extremely bright,” said Thompson in response to his newly appointed position. “As a board member for the past fifteen years, I’ve been with the Bank through the ups and downs. Many banks didn’t make it through the last recession, but we did, and we are much stronger because of it.
“We will work hard to maintain our community bank values and culture, while we grow and thrive. It is vital that we continue to support the communities we serve through volunteerism, donations, and partnerships with our local business owners and nonprofit organizations. We have a fantastic board, outstanding executive leadership, and a phenomenal staff, and I am honored to work among them.”
The Bank also elected Dan Jones as the Board’s new Vice Chair. Jones is the owner of DJ Financial, a tax and investment advisory practice, based out of Roseburg, Oregon. He holds a degree in accounting and is a Certified Public Accountant and Registered Investment Advisor. In his spare time, Dan supports the United Cerebral Palsy Foundation, assists with his children’s school system activities, and regularly donates his services to help with elder care issues. Jones has been an active member of Oregon Pacific Bank’s Board of Directors since 2014 and represents the Bank’s Douglas County communities.
“Dan has been an outstanding board member since day one,” says Thompson. “His background as a CPA and overall financial knowledge has been a vital resource to the board and he is an exceptional representative of the Roseburg community. I am thrilled to continue to work with Dan even more closely.”
