Jay Couron

VP, Commercial Relationship Manager
Roseburg Branch

Jay Couron’s experience in banking in Roseburg dates back to 2009, so he was already well known in the community before he joined Oregon Pacific Bank’s Roseburg Branch.

As a Commercial Relationship Manager, he works with local businesses to help them with any finance needs, handling loans for equipment and real estate with the goal of helping businesses grow.

“I’m looking forward to helping new and existing businesses achieve their dreams,” he says.

Jay earned a bachelor’s degree in Small Business Administration/Management at California State University Dominguez Hills. He started off working for a larger, multistate bank, but he then moved to a smaller regional bank before joining OPB. He decided to come to Oregon Pacific Bank because of our reputation and service as a community bank that puts the interests of our clients first.

Jay and his family have lived in Roseburg for more than 20 years, first moving here to be closer to his wife’s parents. Jay’s family initially moved from Southern California to Portland, but they found themselves spending frequent weekends in Roseburg and decided to move here themselves.

“We love the community and the chance to get out in nature,” he says.

Jay, his wife and their two kids spend a lot of time on the North Umpqua River, camping and kayaking. They also enjoy trips to the central Oregon Coast, where for years they regularly visited his grandparents in Waldport.

He and his wife own the C.H. Bailey House, a bed and breakfast in Roseburg. The beautiful country home was built in 1909, and Jay helps maintain the surrounding gardens and assists with weddings and other events.

Jay is community-minded and serves as chair of the North Umpqua Planning Advisory Committee. In addition, he’s on the finance committee for NeighborWorks Umpqua, a nonprofit organization that aims to strengthen rural communities by helping people achieve housing stability. Their programs include affordable housing development, education, homeowner assistance and financial services.

“I’ve always enjoyed helping people finance their dreams of ownership,” he says. “It’s exciting for me to give back to the community.”

When first considering joining OPB, Jay says he felt persuaded by our mission of service.

“My biggest takeaway was that the emphasis is on teamwork and working together to help local businesses succeed,” he says. “Now that I’m here, I definitely see and feel that.”
