During her time at Oregon Pacific Bank, Marci Laursen has heard a lot of stories about the struggles customers have experienced at other banks.

“I’m really saddened by how many stories I’ve heard of folks who come to us from bigger financial institutions, and how difficult it is to get anything done,” she says.

At OPB, clients can visit a branch or make a phone call and instantly talk with someone. “It’s nice to be able to pick up a phone and call and not have to work through a phone tree,” she says. “Our clients know they’re going to get assistance.”

Marci is an Assistant Branch Manager at our Eugene Branch. She joined OPB in 2018 and has worked in banking for 18 years, starting as a teller. Before that, she worked in restaurant management.

Marci interacts with a lot of clients who visit the branch, which is something she enjoys. “Over the years, I’ve developed clientele who call on me regularly for assistance. That always feels good.”

Even as OPB has grown, it has continued to emphasize a connection with customers. “We’re still of the size that we can offer that personal connection and personalized service,” she says.

She also values her relationships with co-workers, knowing she can rely on them, and appreciates how OPB values input from employees and is committed to our communities.

In her off-hours, Marci enjoys camping, fishing, skiing, boating and spending time in her garden. She and her husband went to University of Oregon football games for a number of years and now cheer for the Ducks from home.

She’s also enjoyed volunteering for FOOD for Lane County, which she did for about a dozen years. With her restaurant experience, she pitched in to help the nonprofit with food preparation and served guests at The Dining Room.

Marci was born and raised in Eugene and has lived here all her life, except for a short time when she lived in Alaska. Eugene has always been hard to beat with its moderate weather and its location between beaches and mountains, and it has one other big plus.

“All my family is here, and lifelong friends,” Marci says. “There’s been nothing to lead me elsewhere.”
