Tami Calkin

Vice President, Trust Officer, CTFA
Eugene Branch

Tami Calkin never knows what she’ll see on a given day. It could include collections of paintings, classic cars, yachts, old bicycles and more — just about anything you might imagine.

“My day is never really the same twice in a row,” she says.

As a Vice President and Trust Officer at Oregon Pacific Bank, part of Tami’s job is to administer estates for clients and their families. That includes research to determine market value for personal possessions, as well as how to sell or package, store and ship items when needed.

Some collections are more unusual than others. One client had an extensive collection of Star Trek memorabilia, another an assortment of taxidermy, and yet another a huge conglomeration of rocks that filled a four-car garage.

“I get to become an expert on random stuff,” she says. “I find out about all these cool things I never even knew existed.”

Administering estates is just one of the many and varied services Tami offers as part of her job. She helps families be prepared for end-of-life care or other challenging situations, and she often gets to know the clients very well in the process.

“What I like about the job is the people,” she says. “It’s a chance to develop meaningful relationships. It’s a huge relief for clients and families when we can step in and provide support for families at a time that can be overwhelming.”

Trust services are available within each of the five areas of the state that we serve, including Florence, Coos Bay, Roseburg, Medford and Eugene, where Tami works.

Tami has been with us since August 2020. She has prior experience in the field of trusts and has also worked in finance and education.

Outside of the office, Tami serves as Treasurer on the board of Direction Service, a nonprofit organization that aims to help people with disabilities and special needs to live full and healthy lives.

She grew up in the Eugene area and loves living here and being close to family. Tami likes that the city is big enough to offer lots of shopping, dining and entertainment options, but small enough to avoid big city traffic. She also enjoys the recreational opportunities of the Oregon Coast and mountain ranges, and she likes to play tennis and volleyball in her free time.

Tami enjoys working at OPB and is happy that she has the chance to help people while constantly learning new things. “The people and the variety are what keeps my job interesting and rewarding,” she says.
