Shaina Peters

Trust Officer
Roseburg Branch

The opportunity to build relationships with customers is the key thing that drew Shaina Peters to her job as a Trust Officer at Oregon Pacific Bank’s Roseburg Branch.

“When I reflect back on the moments that I’ve been happiest or most fulfilled in my career, it’s when I have the chance to help customers, to have positive impacts on their lives,” she says. “This job allows me to do that.”

OPB’s Trust Services department is dedicated to meeting personal and family needs in the event of death or incapacity. As Shaina explains, their main role is to connect individuals with the appropriate attorneys and other professionals to guide them through crucial estate planning decisions. Trust officers diligently work alongside clients to ensure their wishes are met while providing clients with the reassurance that their assets are safeguarded.

Those types of discussion and responsibility can lead to close, trusted relationships. “We get to know clients on a personal, deep level, knowing what their wishes are,” she says.

Shaina first got started in banking in 2008 as a teller and realized immediately she’d found what she wanted to do. “I just absolutely loved the job,” she says. “I loved having that professional working environment, getting to know the customers. It just came naturally to me.”

She worked her way up, learning all about the business. “In banking, I feel like you’re always learning something, it never stops,” she says. “It keeps your mind challenged.”

Shaina became an assistant manager and eventually a branch manager, spending time at both a large national bank and a regional bank. She’s excited about making the move to Oregon Pacific Bank, a true community bank, where she started in the spring of 2023. She saw a lot of familiar faces right off the bat.

“It already feels like home,” she says. “I’ve heard of nearly everyone on this team before. They’re so involved in the community.”

Shaina knows the Roseburg community well. She grew up in Sutherlin and graduated from Sutherlin High School, saying proudly, “I’m a Bulldog.”

She enjoys getting outdoors to hike, float the river and spend time with family while soaking up the beauty of nature. “You never have to do the same hike more than once because there are so many different trails,” she says. “I really feel lucky to have grown up in such a beautiful place.”

She also enjoys card games, travelling to see new places and attending comedy shows and concerts.

Music is a passion of hers. She is a former president of Music Off Central, a nonprofit organization in Sutherlin that puts together family summer concerts at Central Park. In 2022, they added a large half shell to the venue.

Shaina is an entertainment advisor for the group this year, and they have a full slate of concerts planned for the summer. She loves being involved, saying, “It doesn’t feel like work because I have so much fun doing it.”

There’s nothing like music to bring families and communities together. “You can feel the energy that music brings,” Shaina says.

She is planning to get involved with other nonprofit groups in the Roseburg area as well. “I love giving back to the community,” she says.
